Welcome. I’m happy to see you here.

I am Jodie, an Occupational Therapist in Woodford in the Blue Mountains.

As an individual, I believe all children bring value to our world and have a voice that needs to be heard. I enjoy working with families to help them understand their child and the best ways they can support them to thrive. My passion is to promote growth through play and meaningful challenges.

Building blocks guiding your child’s journey.

I am dedicated to empowering your child and family across all developmental areas including:

Over 20 year’s experience, has taught me that all children are unique and will follow their own path. I enjoy the privilege of being a part of that journey.

Sensory processing

My therapy focuses on identify and supporting sensory challenges and helping children to learn about their own bodies

Emotional Regulation

Therapy aims to help children to recognise and understand their emotions. It explores strategies we can use to support emotional stress and how we can foster resilience.

Engagement in play

Play provides important opportunities for learning in all areas of development including social interaction, frustration tolerance, sharing attention and imagination and problem solving. Therapy aims to increase their depth of participation in play and their playfulness during it.

Behaviour Management

It is important to look at why the behaviour is occurring and what it is trying to communicate. I work in collaboration with parents to explore strategies that are individual to your child and help them access the support they need, when facing challenges.

School Readiness

Preparing your child for school involves developing essential skills such as fine motor coordination, attention and social communication.

Motor Skills

Strength, balance, accuracy and control in your child’s postural system can impact their daily skills greatly. Therapy enhances your child’s ability to be as independent and successful as possible in their chosen activities.

Attention and Concentration

Therapy sessions focus on improving sustained attention and the ability to shift attention as needed. These skills are necessary in academic tasks and during social communication with others.

Feeding Challenges

Therapy can improve challenges related to fussy eating and poor oral motor skills. It is important to address underlying anxiety towards food and work to create positive mealtime experiences for your child and your family.

Social Communication

The social world we live in is complex. Improving a child’s understanding of the underlying principles of communication, and working on skills such as shared attention and team work are essential. I work on this in the context of relationships with peers and within the family.  Group sessions are available and allow for the skills to be worked on in a natural and contextual manner.
